Welcome to Kindy's Artwork Guidelines!
Kindy's provides high quality custom screenprinting and embroidered apparel. We take special pride in our attention to detail . . . . . . . . . it begins with artwork.
If the artwork is not designed or modified correctly for apparel, Kindy's won't be able to produce a quality job for you. We have an outstanding in-house art department that can quickly and efficiently prepare your artwork for printed apparel while keeping art charges to a minimum.
Whether you provide us with "camera-ready" artwork or you supply us with artwork that needs to be "polished" by our art department, we suggest you follow the guidelines below to receive the best looking printed product.
Please know that we are always available to help you with advice or guidance if you are unsure of how "ready" your artwork is for print.
For All Printed Items: When producing your own artwork, we accept the following digital file types --
- Adobe Illustrator CS2 or below or Illustrator EPS
- Adobe Photoshop CS2 or below
- Macromedia Freehand 8.0 or below
|
 | When submitting your design, please confirm your logo size by specifying the dimensions of your design by height and width.
All text and/or fonts in the design must be converted to outlines.
We ask that a hard copy or printout be provided with all digital files for verification purposes. This streamlines the art process.
Computer generated artwork that is to be mailed to Kindy's must be saved to a disk formatted for Macintosh or DOS on a 3.5" Floppy disk, a MAC Zip Disk or, preferably, on a CD-ROM.
If you Email your artwork to us, we request you also fax us a copy of the artwork for verification purposes. This streamlines the art process.
| We accept the following "camera-ready" artwork: |
|
- A clean laser printout of at least 600 DPI (Dots Per Inch) or better
- A clean, crisp copy of artwork in black and white form, or
- A film positive ("PMT" or "Slick")
|
 | Please Note: Sorry! . . . Ink jet prints do NOT provide satisfactory reproduction results.
Other requirements of "camera-ready" artwork are:
- It should NOT be folded or creased,
- It should be at the size of your actual printed design,
- Multi-colored artwork should be separated (one piece for each color) with
appropriate registration marks.
- Artwork containing halftones must be supplied on vellum or film positives,
to size, with a line screen no higher than 45 LPI (Lines Per Inch) |
|
Artwork that WILL need our art department's attention:
- Faxes, photo copies, business cards, downloaded web images,
color prints, or other finished printed pieces will accrue art charges to achieve the best screenprinted results.
- We cannot accept digital artwork created in Microsoft Word, Excel or Publisher. Artwork in this format must be printed out on plain white paper.
- Please be aware that some promotional items cannot include halftones, very fine lines, very fine detail, or tight registration to receive the best looking printed product. Therefore, our art department will recommend adjusting your design to achieve acceptable printability. Printing tolerance varies by item and by printing process.
|
|
For Screenprinted Items: If you are printing colors on a dark shirt, your design must include a white underlay.
|
When submitting your design, please confirm your logo size by specifying the dimensions of your design by height and width.
If your design contains white components, you must show them in the design as some random visible color (such as red or purple, etc.) and "label the color "WHITE". Also, clearly state on your order that "the red component of this design is printed as white". If white isn't shown as a color, it could be missed by our art department and our printer. |
 |
For Embroidered Items: We prefer files created in:
- Adobe Illustrator 10.0 or below or Illustrator EPS
- Adobe Photoshop 5.5
- Macromedia Freehand 8.0 or below
|
 |
When submitting your design, please confirm your logo size by specifying the dimensions of your design by height and width.
Lettering should be 3/8" tall or higher (including lower case letters) to embroider nicely on garments.
Color blending and special color matching (PMS) is hard to achieve in embroidery. We would need to see your design to further discuss our capabilities of blending or matching with you.
Shadows on small objects, tiny pictures and very fine lines and detail in artwork should be avoided when possible with embroidery. We can help you adjust your design, as needed, to achieve the best embroidered results.
Let Kindy's Create Artwork For You!
 |
Our outstanding in-house art department is always ready to compose original creative artwork for our customers. . . . . . . It begins with your idea.
We need you to describe your overall art idea, giving our art department a general understanding of your art concept. Our art department will then, design your artwork in a timely manner, while accomplishing your art goal.
Of course, before you ACTUALLY have us design artwork for you, you need to know approximately how much the art charges will cost you. Therefore, we can give you an art quote for creating your artwork through the information and description that you give us when you fill out and send us the Request a Quote form. Please fill out the entire form as much as possible. We use the information that you give us for not only quoting you an art price, but we also use the information to begin creating your design once you accept the quote.
WE REQUIRE ART APPROVAL FOR ALL ARTWORK! Whether you send us "camera-ready" artwork, artwork for us to "polish" or new artwork for us to create, we require ALL artwork to be APPROVED by you, our customer before printing.
Once your artwork has been processed through our art department, your finished artwork will be held in our secured-site for art approval. We will contact you through Email, giving you a login password to use, to see and approve your final art. At the secured-site, you will see a digital copy of your final artwork on a Art Approval Form. The form will also confirm the dimensions of your design, the print location and the colors of your logo.
Remember, this IS the FINAL artwork before going to print. Therefore, you must look over this artwork very carefully to make sure everything is correct.
It is very important that you approve and send back the Art Approval Form by the deadline date. By approving the artwork by the deadline date, your order will be printed on time. Sorry . . . NO corrections can be made after your approval.
If you do not approve your art by the art deadline date, your order may be delayed for printing.
If you DO have art corrections that need to be made, you must notify us, immediately! We want to quickly make the corrections, send back a revised art approval to you so that we can keep the original print date for you.
Remember, if you need help or have a question, at anytime, about your artwork, you can "Talk To A Real Person" at our TOLL-FREE number (during normal business hours).
